About Us

PPPAP Mission Statement

  • To Foster & Promote the Direct Painting Experience
  • To encourage PleinAir Painting on an Ongoing Basis
  • To Establish a Forum for Artists to Share Ideas and Knowledge of Their PleinAir Experience
  • To Promote to the Public the Significance and Value of Plein Air Painting

How We Began

Founding members

Friends since their time in the Kansas City Art Institute, Colorado artists, Michael Gault and Ken Shanika founded the PPPAP group by inviting Like-minded artists to join them in painting outdoors in the Pikes Peak Region. Artists that joined Shanika and Gault in this created endeavor were: Chuck Mardosz, CJ Chadwell, Dan Schultz, David Mayer, George Hart, Harold Deist, Kazuko Stern,  Ken Valestro, Lee Cable & Nancy Moageline.
